Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

So all the local news stations were crying "Snow!" for the past few days because of a storm in North Texas. I figured that the storm was too far away to say whether or not it is going to hit us, well apparently that is not the case.

I woke up to this on Saturday morning. It is still snowing as I am posting and I am not looking forward to driving to work tonight. Hopefully, the restaurant will be closed or the staff downsized for the night.

It was pretty sweet to watch it snow in the backyard as I was sipping my coffee. It actually got a little higher as the day goes on. I would consider shoveling the snow, but it will probably be gone in the next couple days. It will be enough just to dig the car out.
In the past couple of weeks I have not done much else except work. I will try to take pictures of work in the next couple of days. I actually worked 51 hours last week, so I have been a little busy. I did manage to make a gift for my Dad's birthday. He likes to watch football, and he has a habit of yelling at the tv. But he is not rooting for any particular team, he is calling penalties. So, naturally, I made him some penalty flags for his birthday.
Apparently you can not buy penalty flags for football. I guess they do not want fans bringing in their own flags to the game. So I made these with yellow nylon fabric, pinto beans, string and glue. Three came out good, one did not make the cut, it had too many pinto beans in it and looked more like a weapon. The gift went over well, it was not a gag gift because it took too long to make. But it wasn't a very serious gift either. Anyway, I liked 'em.

Well take care you guys, we should Skype this week :)

  1. Ur so creative! i would have never thought! Well it is sunday morning and i am eagerly anticipating Shyam's arrival-in 1 piece-from Justin's bachelor partay. I had quite the weekend myself barhopping dowtown Phoenix with my friend Alicia and then glued to the couch saturday with my friend Christie. And today, i would like to start my garden and have a fabulous dinner waiting for Shyam when he gets home!
WOW-that sure was a lot of snow, how soon i forget:) If you have the time you should definately build a snowman and send pictures, i love snowmen-havent built one since that HORRIBLE superbowl of 2007:( the weather has been awesome here, high 60's low 70's. our window for sunrise is making its first change in a couple of weeks....the first of many but it only changes 10 minutes at a time so it will be gradual, thank goodness. I am very much anticipating spring which comes months earlier here than most places:)I am starting to hear birds in the morning. The pronghorn will drop their fawns in late Feb/early Mar and by April we will see them out and about. plus the coyotes, kit foxes and soon there after the reptiles will start appearing:)Once you get your schedule pick a day to skype and its on-we'll shower this time:)
    take care stebes, ac

  2. I would make a snowman if I had an ice pick. Yup, the snow froze over the first night and has been a mess ever since. It takes me 15 minutes to get to the restaurant normally, now it takes an hour. Plus, my shifts have been back to back, so I get home at 1am, fall asleep by 2am and wake up at 4:40am! Then, half alseep, I get in the car and drive back to work. I've been lucky and have not had any problems with the drive, its just that the defroster on high drys out your eyes especially when you forget to blink.

Bachelor parties for Shyama and girls night out for Amanda, it sounds like the trailor for a movie. It sounds like you two are having fun :) I can see why you would be anxious for spring to come with all the little newborn pups running around. I'm sure you'll take pics, can't wait to see them.

Maybe we can Skype on Saturday, I don't work the good shifts yet so I am off on fri and sat. Let me know if that is a good day for ya both. And this time I promise to be the smelly one. Just kiddin,

  4. A friends wedding trumps skyping any day of the week. Have a blast this weekend!! I get my new schedule on Superbowl Sunday, in which I serve, bartend and manage from 6:30am to 10pm. Everyone else requested off or is working a normal half day. But now I am an ABC Manager and Shift Mangager at work (resume builders). Once I get my new schedule we can figure out a good time to Skype for everyone. Well, enjoy the beach, I'm sure your going to have the best garden on the block. Take care,

  5. hey steve,
that weather hasn't let up on you at all huh? we been keeping track of the storms on the nightly news, pretty crazy man. well, bond's wedding was a great time, but it was an outdoor service by the beach and it was pouring rain :) we had tents though so it was all good. i drank WAY too much scotch at the reception and was hung over the entire next day, but seeing the colts lose defnitely lifted my spirits! i can't believe you had to be at work so long on sunday, thats insane bro. hopefully your new schedule won't be as bad. well, not much new on my end. still trying to get work and not having any luck, but i'm trying to stay optimistic. at least my meager unemployment checks prevent me from having to work at the gas station. okay man, hope this finds you well, be careful driving on that ice!
    peace-ss
