my beautiful cousin Casey who made it back safely from Afghanistan last September:)
...clearly my last shot and some more cards...a dime game, where you dont want low cards, instead high cards-specifically the King of HEarts.
and i will leave you with photos of the bestest critter i have run into yet in the desert..i cannot emphasize how much i love the horned lizard. The stance to the right was my cue to leave him be..even though i wanted to pick him up i didnt want him to start squirting blood out his eyes!!
I am still waiting on a call back from Taj about booking a flight. i will try him again tomorrow. we would probably only be able to do a long weekend and yes i am thinking probably the 19th since Father's day is the previous weekend. We are gonna try and make it to Chicago in mid-August..interested in meeting up? My gramps left me his car and we need to drive it back..thinking about hitting up as many state parks in the midwest as possible:)
take care, ac

So, guys, I'm finally here on the blog and, just as I suspected when staying away so long, it makes me miss the hell out of all of you! I do apologize for the delay... I was not only trying to stay away from downer thoughts about the absence of my amazing friends, but also waiting until I had something to post that was meaningful. I was hoping that when that moment arrived it would involve me proudly announcing my own new job, but (alas!) that hasn't happened yet. In fact, it currently looks like my already over-educated ass will have to spend another year in school while continuing the search. Who knew how cool those with 14 years of college really were? :)
ReplyDeleteInstead of a job, I am writing because I spent the most beautiful weekend at the coast, staying in a great suite in Manzanita with Kim (the fabulous lady I've been seeing since december)and venturing out for hikes, meals, tidepool exploring, seal watching, and shell collecting. It was fantastically relaxing and I got some amazing photos, especially of the sunsets. It was actually 65 and sunny the entire time (which I think is actually better than any weather I've ever gotten at the coast during the summer!). Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to post pictures to this blog to share them. Help!
In terms of planning, it sounds like the wonderful couple (S & A) are thinking about June rather than May, or at least that's what I got out of the reference to father's day. That's too late for us to coincide it with the Hood hike if that's the case, but I'm all about the visit with great folks, whenever it can occur. Of course, you are all welcome to save some bucks by staying and eating with me while you are here. My cats say they miss you, steve, so I'll make sure to save you a couch spot! :)
The pics of your hikes and research are amazing, Amanda, as you know I'm a huge dork about the critters, too! You should definitely cherish the chance to drive that car from Chicago, as your parks idea is priceless. Make sure you go through southern Utah in the process... amazing hiking, despite funny social customs :)
I'm happy to host whenever, for what it's worth, so everyone just let me know the dates you decide.
Steve, Yuengling rules, which makes you a God!

ReplyDeleteHooray, taj is on the post! good to hear from you man. i hope you can figure out the photo thing cuz i'd love to see pics from your coast vacation. don't sweat the whole lack of work thing... its me and you and a shit load of other people in the same boat. hopefully things will take a turn for the better soon. great to hear from you man, take care.
ReplyDeleteSweet, glad you got to post bro. I put up the washington state emblem the other day and I kinda felt like I was willing ya to post.
ReplyDeleteSo I like you pictures of everyone bundled up, even indoors, and then at the end the picture of the desert creature. Its like cold pic, cold pic, cold pic, hot eyeblood-dripping lizard pic. :) Oh, I got my Chicago gift, thank you very much, Shyama you need to write much bigger letters if your going to compete with Amanda greeting cards :) I think Amanda is purposely using up all the space so Shyama's message looks even smaller.
So June-ish for a trip out, sounds absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see everyone off Hawthorne in nice summer weather. When ya book your flights, let me know and I will get something similar. Take care everyone, great to see we all made it here.
Steve
Oh yeah, Shyama, there is a trader joe's down the street from where my Grandmother is living. I will pick up some simpler life beer the next time I visit her. Hopefully they have it, if not I'm stoked there's a trader joe's nearby. Thanks for the suggestion.
ReplyDeletePeace out,
sh
