The globe spins and talks about tectonic plate movement and I stood in front of this aquarium for like five peaceful minutes. I could of spent more time but I didn't want to hog it for myself.

Probably one of my best pictures this year, the stingray looks awesome flying through the water with the light over it.

A lemon shark I think, and of course, Nemo.

Cool little Shipwreck scene with the sharks swimming on the other side of the ship wall.

A saltwater turtle with an attitude, it kept trying to nip at the fish. On the right, I think it is a fresh water turtle, it is actually massive, probably a couple hundred pounds.

A Tomistomas (or crocodile) from underneath the water, and some seahorses hanging on to seaweed in the flowing water.

Pit viper on the left and an Egyptian King Cobra on the right.

Apparently some local poisonous snakes, rattle snake, cottonmouth and something else. I hate snakes.

A big ass Komodo Dragon that was playing with its food (fish) in its pen. Some stick bugs, there are actually three of them in this shot.

The pic on the left is a hallway with all these mirrors and very clear pictures bouncing around. And of course, no aquarium is complete without playful otters. They were a ball of fur rolling around in the water as they were playing.
I think I took roughly 150 photos while I was there, and I went during a slushy snow storm so I was virtually by myself. I did not get to see the atrium due to the storm, but I think I will become a member so I can go back. Well take care,
sh

AMAZING PICS! those came out really well man, good job. that stingray one is classic, and the shark is fucking wicked looking. thats cool that you have such an awesome aquarium in your town, they're always fun to check out. its like being in another world.
ReplyDeletei know where you're coming from with the whole snake thing, i used to be the same way. but over the years i've slowly overcome that fear. being with amanda and her reptile loving ways definitely played a big part in that. i'm still scraed to death of sharks though, jaws totally ruined me at a young age. i can't go more that waist deep in the ocean without constantly being on the lookout for fins and big dark shapes. suprisingly we haven't seen many snakes yet on our hikes, just a couple garter snakes. but i know once it gets really hot all the rattlers will be out.
have you seen any of those Wild Russia episodes? they aired on animal planet a while back and are realy cool. there's also a full length movie called Deep Blue that was made by the same crew that did animal planet, definitely worth checking out.
okay man, i don't have much in the way of news. still trying to land a job, its a total drag. it was good seeing you yesterday, even though it was cut way short. hope this finds you happy. one love,
ss
wow, STebes! well worth the wait on the blog-pics specifically:) thank you thank you thank you for our stone dolphin!!!! we love it and it is on the bookcase, you are so thoughtful:) i am cutting this way shorter than Shyam...my gramps passed late sunday night and my mom called mid-morning to tell me. We are getting on a flight to Chicago first thing in the am and will be there through sunday:( 3 outta the last 4 visits home have been for funerals-fn awful:/
ReplyDeletei hope you are well and we will soon be enduring your weather pain...new snow storm just hit the windy city:( take care, ac
I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandfather Amanda. Continuously going back to Chicago for funerals has got to take its toll. Just remember, you've got a friend in Virginia that is there for ya. Well, I can't to everything. Umm, cat sitting, probably out of the question. But I can do a lot of other stuff. Chiefly, I am the free bed and breakfast for you two if you ever want to come out east for a weekend or longer.
ReplyDeletePlease take care of yourselves and call me for anything.
