Saturday after Thanksgiving was finally a nice day outside and I was able to get some yard work done. After 10 bags of leaves and debris, the small backyard was finally looking good. My Dad helped and we were able to clean the gutters and the roof. The weather has been ridiculous, raining constantly and knocking the power out. Every time I work outside, it ends up pouring down rain and muddying the place up.No laughing at this picture. :-o) My Dad took me flying on Sunday around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. I think at this picture we were between 1500 feet and 2000 ft. up. It was a perfect day for flying.
The headphones are necessary, because you are basically sitting right behind a large engine. It is loud as hell. The sunglasses are just because I felt cool up there. It was so bright up there that this was the best shot of the instrument panel I could get. And as you could imagine, I was not aloud to touch anything, not that I would want to start hitting switches.
We got clearance to fly over Norfolk Naval Station and got to see a bunch of ships. I tried to get my Dad to land on an aircraft carrier, but apparently that is no bueno. If you look closely you can see a bunch of cars and trucks on the deck. If you look real close they will take your camera and send ya to Gitmo. Just kidding.
The sun was shining right into the camera, so the picture is not of very good quality, but we had a good view of Virginia Beach. I have yet to set foot on it, weather has sucked. Since it is winter time, maybe I should consider going to the beach. Who am I kidding, I'll get burned no matter when I go.Take care everyone,
Steve

I think we've found your new calling steve... helicopter pilot for hire! you rock those headphones and shades man. you could be like TC on magnum PI. or that dude from airwolf! aw, that'd be even better. we just gotta find you a hollow mountain that can be your secret helicopter lair in the desert... i'll work on that from this end. you start working on the 'copter pilot lingo... you know, call 'em birds and such. -ss
ReplyDeleteWOWSA!! that is friggen awesome, a helicopter ride, you's a pimp;) Like shyam said you need to learn to flight that thing! immedidente-talk about a killer first date;) Speaking of pimpin you have to watch (on-line) the South Park episode titled Butter's Bottom Bitch; it is highlarious, really watch it-now! Seriously great pics i have some to upload but am gonna wait till the end of my work week, which unfortanetly won't be until tomorrow:( It's a fly weekend so we gotta work but atleast the 4 of us can split it up b/n both days. I love the backyard and i do remember the weather in the midwest preventing me to ever clear it out! 10 bags is pretty impressive, hope the wind didn't blow the next day and make 10 more leaf bags! Well, today was the last official day of my training and I am on my own from here on out with my crew. I am very excited to drop the act and crack the whip on these lil bitches. Pronghorn crew gonna run this town tonight (did you get the reference?)
ReplyDeletetake care, a
Oh, I should of clarified that it was not a helicopter but a single-engine plane called an Archer. Planes, if maintained can last a long time. I think my Dad's is older then I am, but he did a lot of work on it. If it was a helicopter, I would definitely get the dark helmet and I would become Airwolf. :)
